Card In A Box

Wednesday, September 18, 2019

Hi  Everyone

I was looking at my previous blogs and came across one of my first blogs where I had entered a competition at the A Vintage Journey.

So I decided to check this website out again and discovered a wonderful site which I had forgotten all about.

This months Challenge is "Box It Up" where the instructions are:
Perhaps you will make a trunk or suitcase,
some kind of package to hold a gift,
or maybe make a card or journal page showing presents.

So this 'Card In A Box' is my entry for this competition.

It is a Card in a Box - it looks like a Box but is actually a card.

The box is made with pink cardstock but is covered with  Stamperia Shabby Roses paper.  The box inside is made of the Stamperia Paper which has been folded in a corrugated manner and pieced together.  The inside of the box has been decorated with 49 & Market flowers and accessories I have cut from the Stamperia paper pad.  The inside of the card/box is decorated with a lace pocket with the Stamperia envelope tucked inside.  The envelope allows you to write that important little message to the one you love.

I hope you like this box and don't forget to jump over and look at all the wonderful entries for the different challenges I have entered with this beautiful project.

Hatbox Card

Hi Everyone

After a busy busy week looking after our three beautiful grandchildren, going places, doing things and generally having a wonderful time I decided it was time to get into my Craft Room.

All the cards in this collection were created with a selection of  paper from Stamperia (Ceremony).

Card 1 - Hatbox Card

Card 2 - Feathers
Card 3 - Flowers
Other supplies I used are:

  • American Craft Cards and envelope pack - white  (7"x5") as the base for each of my cards.
  • Modelling paste / Ribbon / lace / baby pearls
  • Roses  / Stamperia Paper (Celebration) / die cuts
If you would like to get the full instructions on how to make this card please contact me at Glenda's Shabby Creations.

Make Today Count

Hi Everyone

This layout is the layout you do when you don't want to add flowers

Once again I used 49 & Market paper (Sweet Reflections - Singing the Blues paper).

First I ripped the flower off the page and then turned the page around so that ripped part was on the bottom.

In line with the photo I wanted to show the earth tones on the bottom of the page - this was done with corrugated cardboard and lots of hessian.

I gave the page some texture with the wonder stencil from Darkroom Door along with a little stamping of stitching across the back.

Behind the photo I have used Tim Holtz paper to cut strips and die cut shapes.  To finish it all off I added the little badge and some metal shapes like the car and arrow.

Traveling Little Boy Blue

Tuesday, July 9, 2019

I love making pages for my grandchildren and I use the pages I make to highlight the little rascal my Grandson is growing up to be.
This page I am entering into the July Scrap The Boys Challenge
Go and check out the wonderful blogspot that I found - it has some wonderful inspirational pages
I have used paper from 49 & Market and then sprayed with a pale blue and used a travel stamp to highlight the theme of the page.
The Flowers are also 49 & Market which have been highlighted with a little blue ink.
The accessories I have used all have that the travel theme with the compass, bicycle and little car.
This has been a joy to make and came together very easy - I think it is mainly because of the inspiration in the photo.

Friends Forever

Hi Everyone

With Mother's Day on my mind I thought I would put together a page representing the love of motherhood.

Although my mother has now passed this photo reminds me of the close friendship we had, and the close friendship I now have with my daughter and I hope that this friendship will continue forward with her child.

For this page I used 49 & Market paper Sweet Reflections pack and I used the Reminiscene paper. which I ripped down one side and turned it around to add more flowers down the side.

Of course no layout wouldn't be complete without lots of lace and a pretty doily.

The flowers I used are a mixture of 49 & Market flowers and Little Birdie - I wanted small ones to just complete the page off.

Sweet Memory - Exploding Card

Wednesday, May 1, 2019

Hi

I decided to make an exploding card for my Mother-In-Law for Mother's Day.

As you can see the card is filled with lots of flowers, butterflies and roses but to top it all off is the 3D bicycle sitting in the middle of the card.

The top of the box has little pieces of embroidery floss sitting under fussy cut flowers.   The little flowers at the top of the 'Sweet Memory' words are all hand made. The side of the box has fussy cut flowers on both the top of the box and the bottom of the box.

The bicycle is a die cut which I cut twice.  The actual die has a basket of flowers on the back and a string of balloons on the front.  I cut these off and decided to create two little boxes which I filled with handmade flowers.

The exploding card has two flaps - the bottom flap is decorated with small doily which was coloured with matching ink and then with fussy cuts flowers.

The top flaps are all decorated differently and you can see the photos of the four flaps below.

Lest We Forget

Hi
This is a layout that I just had to create on Anzac Day - it is a layout remembering the men and women who went to War so that we can live safely  in this wonderful country.

For those of you who do not understand the meaning of Anzac - it is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders "who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations" and "the contribution and suffering of all those who have served".

Once again this page was done with 49 & Market paper  (Live Life to the Fullest)

I also used a selection of other paper strips which worked well together to highlight the yellow and red sprays and inks I used.

The Poppies (the symbol of ANZAC Day) were purchased from our local returned servicemen's stall where they sell badges and poppies to help raise funds for the  returning service men and ladies.

The most important part of the whole page is the picture - this is of my husband's Grandfather - Wilfred Wright.  Wilfred served serviced proudly in the New Zealand Army during the First World War and went on to re-inlisting again in the Second World Ward but worked with the Army in New Zealand rather than going overseas again.
