A Bygone Era

This is my final layout for the application to be on the Designer Team for 49 and Market.

It has been fun making these layouts as I usually do cards.  I have enjoyed the change in focus but am also itching to get back to my cards - watch this space - cards are on their way.

This is a picture from one of the papers from Paper Art from New Zealand and have used both Kaisercraft paper and the wonderful Stampera paper.

I die cut the flowers and then from both papers, then I sprayed them with gold spritz and scrunched them up   The left over spritz that was on my mat was mopped up with a little piece of muslin which was then used in the layout.

Wedding Day

As a little girl growing up I always loved this photo of my Mother on her wedding day.
She was married in the 1940's just after the War and it just shows how beautiful she is.
I used the new Couture Creations C'est La Vie paper as a background.  I then used a stencil to enhance the background with modelling paste and stamps.  The page was then finished off with beautiful white lace, a different selection of flowers and some die cut leaves.  Up in the corner is a Dusty Attic chipboard which I coloured using embossing powder and decorated with a foam rose.

Remembering the Past

This is the my second full page that I have created in the past week.
This one is a picture of my Mother who we lost two years ago. She loved flowers, the garden and pretty things.  In this layout I used the green as a background which I first stamped with green inks and then put some dimension into the page with modelling paste using a flower stencil.

Mum loved pink, so I used some pretty pink lace as a background to the 49 and Market papers I used for the flowers.  Additional flowers and feathers and leaves were then added to the side of the picture. It is nicely framed with a Dusty Attic chipboard.

Added to the corner of the page is a beautiful birdcage which I have painted, added pearl beads and then added a beautiful dragonfly on the top.

Gemima

I know I have not done anything on my Blog for quite a while but I am now back and will be posting more regularly.

While I have been away I have been lucky to met some wonderful teachers while taking classes and learning lots and lots of techniques and ideas which I am now trying to put into practice and making some wonderful pages.

The page below is my very first page that I have done in a very long long time and is totally different to what I have done in the past.  I started my Scrapbooking creating books showcasing my children's life, then I moved into making cards and art pieces and now am turning to following great teachers like Di Garland and Tina Oilett.

This page has a very errors but hopefully I will learn from my mistakes and you all will be able to take some inspiration and learning from this post.

The page is my Great Grandmother - Gemima.  She lived in England and raised 8 children, most of the time she did it by herself as her husband was a Captain on a ship which traveled around Europe.  Watch out for my next page which will be dedicated to Thomas the Captain.

My feel that the stencil I did on the background was not big enough and therefore has not done what I wanted - to pop the picture out.

The Gate in the picture on the right is a lovely gate but it does not go anywhere - I should have put flowers in behind it leading up to the flowers in the corner.
Also I made some beautiful flowers out of the paper but only put them through the flowers on the bottom left instead of all through the flowers on the left and right.
Other than that - I am really pleased with the layout - it was my first big layout I have done like this.
