Sunshine of the Family

Hi Everyone

Yes it has been a long month, I have been so busy with family commitments that I have not had a chance to touch base with everyone on my blog.

I was so excited when I saw

because the inspiration was:

Word - SunshineColour - Yellow

I got straight into my craft room and created the beautiful layout below.
But I was not happy with it so put it to one side.
I had used black cardstock and covered it with clear Gesso - for some reason it did not come out clear as it had brush marks all over the background.
I then textured the background with Cadence paste - colour Ashy Rose.

I then added the photos of my beautiful grand-daughter playing in a field of beautiful sun flowers.
As soon as I saw the photos it reminded me of Sunshine and bright colours like Yellow.

I was not happy with the layout and didn't think I should enter it into the More Than Words September Challenge so I put it to one side.

That was at the beginning of the month
Now at the end of the month I created the following layout.

I was pleasantly surprised when not only had a used photos from the same time my granddaughter was having fun in the Sun Flower field but I had also used the same 49 & Market flowers.
The difference was I had used the 49 & Market Island Paradise paper - By the Sea
Once again I used clear gesso to coat the background and then after once again using  Cadence paste - colour Ashy Rose. I then sprayed with Lindy's Starburst Sprays - Cape Cod Coral

Both of these layouts remind me of how the beautiful grand daughter is the
Sunshine of the Family

I do hope you all enjoy the layouts and don't forget to go and look at all the other beautiful layouts at the More Than Words September Challenge

Birthday Card - More Than Words Challenge

Hi

Like I mentioned on the More than Words Facebook page I made the tag below to enter the

I used a piece of scrap of white card stock and cut it down to size.
I then started to practice some of the techniques I learnt at The Vintage Chicks Club Stradbroke Retreat where we were lucky enough to have Di Garling teach us some wonder tips and techniques.

The card is for my Father-In-Law who will be turning 86 in a few days

Wishing him a Happy Birthday and many more.

Grandfather

Hi Everyone

This is the first layout I did this month for More Than Words Challenge

As I said earlier it was exciting as it gave me the opportunity to use the photos of such people as this beautiful man - my grandfather.
Unfortunately, I never met the man but from the stories I was told by both my Mother (his daughter) and my Father I think I see traits from him in all my children.
For this layout I used Kaisercraft paper for the background but couldn't go past the 49 & Market flowers and their wonder new laser cuts.

My grandfather was a carpenter by trade and because of this I used the 49 & Market laser cut of the building and put it behind his photo.  I also used old embellishments that I had of an Hammer and Pliers.

Auntie Emma

More Than Words
Challenge

This month's Challenge from More Than Words

I got really excited with this challenge as I have all these wonderful photo of my grandparents or relatives from England.

The first layout I did was influenced by these wonderful photos of my Auntie Emma from Grimsby in England.
She was a wonderful women who lived her life supporting the community around her.  The portrays the feeling of days gone by - yesterday . . . . . .
But I also remember the story of her home in Grimsby which was still lit with Gas lights and woodfire stove - no electricity - ah those were the times.
The layout was created with beautiful 49 & Market papers and flowers and have really helped me create this wonderful layout which is a little shabby chic but shows of years gone by.

More Than Words - Mini Challenge

The Wonderful Website More Than Words set two challenges each month.  I entered my previous post for the monthly challenge and this beautiful tag I am entering into the mini challenge at More Than Words Challenge

This is the first time I have entered the card/tag/ATC opr postcard mini challenge and I decided I would go with a postcard.  I ventured out a little on this one by using some of the sprays I have to colour the background - it was a big scary at first but for my first attempt I think this has worked out quite well.    Hope you enjoy the tag and please look out for more over the coming months.

More Than Words - Main Challenge

Hi Everyone

I have really busy recently as I have a new grandson - so get ready to see lots and lots of photos of my new little boy.

This is the first one I have put on my blog and I am going to enter this page on to the competition run by

This is a wonderful site which I have mentioned in the past - so go and look at all the wonderful creations the talented artists around the world do.

This challenge is

The layout I have done has a lovely blue map as part of the background, along with some wonderful home made flowers.  Sometimes it is very hard to get just the right colour for flowers so when that happens I try to create my own.  They are so simple to make and with a little water (to scrunch them up) and ink to give them a bit of colour the flowers match the colours in the page beautifully.

Late One Night

I know it is late (after midnight) but I was unable to sleep so I decided I would look at my Facebook and see what has been happening in the world while I have been very busy with family responsibilities - good ones but still it has taken my time away from my love - crafting especially scrapbooking.

I digress, while I was lying in bed, scrolling through my Facebook Wall I came across a wonderful layout by Tina Ollett.  The layout was for the Art Playground Blog

I suggest anyone interested in a new challenge go and look at this Blog and join in their first challenge!

Just looking at the beautiful layouts by the team at Art Playground  you will be inspired!!

Keep watching this space - I will be showcasing my entry over the next week or two - once again depending on whether our fourth grandchild makes an entrance or not ! ! ! !

Finding Nature

Hi Everyone

This is my first layout after attending Di Garling's wonderful class the other weekend.

I learnt so much from creating the background, to laying out the photos.  I love the 49 and Market papers that she uses.
I was lucky enough to win a set of the new Layered Di-Cut Embellishments put out by 49 and Market
In this layout I used the background card that the Layered Di-Cut Embellishments packet.  I couldn't find anything that would highlight my photos of my little princess and then while flipping through the papers that I had I cam across the embellishment packet and thought - YES- that background is perfect.

I always try to use every big of my scrapbooking supplies that I buy and have recommended it to others to look beyond the article you are buying and to look at the packaging as well.

A Bygone Era

This is my final layout for the application to be on the Designer Team for 49 and Market.

It has been fun making these layouts as I usually do cards.  I have enjoyed the change in focus but am also itching to get back to my cards - watch this space - cards are on their way.

This is a picture from one of the papers from Paper Art from New Zealand and have used both Kaisercraft paper and the wonderful Stampera paper.

I die cut the flowers and then from both papers, then I sprayed them with gold spritz and scrunched them up   The left over spritz that was on my mat was mopped up with a little piece of muslin which was then used in the layout.

Wedding Day

As a little girl growing up I always loved this photo of my Mother on her wedding day.
She was married in the 1940's just after the War and it just shows how beautiful she is.
I used the new Couture Creations C'est La Vie paper as a background.  I then used a stencil to enhance the background with modelling paste and stamps.  The page was then finished off with beautiful white lace, a different selection of flowers and some die cut leaves.  Up in the corner is a Dusty Attic chipboard which I coloured using embossing powder and decorated with a foam rose.

Remembering the Past

This is the my second full page that I have created in the past week.
This one is a picture of my Mother who we lost two years ago. She loved flowers, the garden and pretty things.  In this layout I used the green as a background which I first stamped with green inks and then put some dimension into the page with modelling paste using a flower stencil.

Mum loved pink, so I used some pretty pink lace as a background to the 49 and Market papers I used for the flowers.  Additional flowers and feathers and leaves were then added to the side of the picture. It is nicely framed with a Dusty Attic chipboard.

Added to the corner of the page is a beautiful birdcage which I have painted, added pearl beads and then added a beautiful dragonfly on the top.
