Emoji

OK This is something I never thought I would be asked for

"Please Mum can you make me a Birthday Card with a Poo Emoji"

So this is the card that I came up with.

I think I did a reasonable job considering it is a Poo Emoji

Teaching for the Vintage Chicks Club

The other day I had a message from Bella who owns and runs the
asking me to give her a call.

So when I called I  received a wonderful surprise
Bella asked if I wanted to become one of her teachers.

Of course my answer was yes .... yes ... yes ! ! ! !

So please hop over the Vintage Chicks Club website and have a look at all the wonderful workshops and retreats they are offering.
Don't forget to sign up and visit their shop which will be opening soon.

I am a bit scared  to be teaching but on the other hand very excited as this is something I have worked towards for years.
Also I can wait to meet all the lovely ladies attending the workshops.
I will keep you all informed as to
when and where I will be teaching.

Dressing a Mannequin

The other day I went into Lincraft to pick up a couple of scrapbooking supplies and came out with a Mannequin.

I have always wanted to dress one with paper, lace and flowers but always had trouble finding one.
This is what I created - the first step was to paint it purple - but that was a mistake, I didn't like the colour so I decided to rip up little pieces of paper and glue them to the bodice.  Once they were dry I covered the bodice with gloss.  Then I made the skirt from paper triangles in two different paper patterns which I attached to the mannequin.  I then made a skirt of lace and my special beaded lace.  The final step was to cover with flowers, feathers and lace.  It was fun and I am really thrilled with how it finished.

Blue and Silver Birthday Card

Blue and Silver Birthday Card - that was the brief I was told by my daughter

Tara Turner from Taras Sweet Surprise had an order to make a Birthday Cake.  As part of the Cakes and Cards Business we have decided to make sure that with every cake made by Taras Sweet Surprise is given a card provided by Syder Scrap Creations.

So with the remit of a Birthday Card in the colours of Blue and Silver.  So I searched through my papers and found a beautiful one created by 49 and Market with the Scents of Nature - Blue Petals paper.

I first fussy cut the main picture on the left hand side of the paper and then used the other side of the paper to cover the card.  The fussy cut picture is then mounted and layered over the top of a dye which has been cut from the reverse side of the paper.

The inside of the card was made and with a scrap piece of the paper and once again overlayed over the top of a dye also cut from the reverse side of the paper.

The whole card is topped off with the beautiful butterfly and then sprinkled with glitter - just a little to give it a bit of sparkle and but not to much.

Secret Santa Present

Carrying on from my previous post the Secret Santa Present
I created for the workshop put on my
I made a Christmas Tag which I put on the front of the bag that I used for the present.

I don't usually make tags but I had so much fun making this one and adding all the different dimensions to it such as feathers, pearls, die cut flowers and little sayings.

I am looking forward to Christmas and being able to make some more Tags for all my special friends.

THE VINTAGE GIRLS CLUB - CHRISTMAS WORKSHOP

I recently attended a wonderful Christmas workshop at

The workshop was a full day affair and we created two beautiful pieces which I will talk about in the next couple of days

As it was a Christmas Workshop each participant was asked to bring along a Secret Santa to share with other crafters.

I always have trouble trying to work out what I am going to make - as this was a craft workshop I wanted to make something in line with the theme of the workshop.
So I put together this little box and filled it little scrapbooking treats.
I first painted the box and then covered it with Stamperia Papers.
I had just purchased some wonderful flower dies and then put it all together with feathers, pearls and bronze embellishments.

I was thrilled when Bella from The Vintage Chicks Club was the lucky person who received this gift.

Flowers - Flowers - Flowers

Last year was a hudge year for our family.

Our daughter said 'Yes' to the love of her life when he asked her to marry him.

The biggest part of the whole build up to the Wedding was that they both decided that they would get married in a 200 year old church in his home town.  The whole family were excited as we had to travel from Australia to England to be part of the happy event.  This was going to be a 'First' for both my husband and myself as we had never been to England or Europe so decided to make a big holiday of it.

The part that I thought would be hardest was organising a wedding from so far away but my daughter is so well organised she achieved it making it look so easy.

However, she did decide that she wanted Mummy made flowers
 - so started a year of flowers - flowers - flowers.

To begin with we had to find the design of the flower that she wanted, then the type of paper and finally the size of the flowers.

Needless to say I spent a year cutting little bits of paper up, folding them, gluing each petal together and then putting the five petals together on a piece of florist wire.

My craft room looked as though a flower explosion had occurred.

I ended up making little flowers to put on the back of every chair, flowers that went on the cake, flowers for the church, little flowers that where scattered on the sweet table, across the fireplace mantel and of course not forgetting the bridesmaids, flower girls, men's buttonholes and the most important the
Bridal Bouquet.

Of course the part of the fun was getting all the flowers from Australia to England - they went into each and every bag that flew to England including many of the little ones in the Tardis which was used as a card holder.
The bouquets all went into boxes and were distributed to everyone who was flying to England to take with care.

To learn more about the cake please visit Tara's Sweet Surprise to find out how she made her cake in a strange house with borrowed equipment.

Kaiser Craft - Factory 45 papers

I have had a very busy weekend with first attending a wonderful workshop at the Vintage Chicks Club yesterday and then busy all day today in the garden and spending wonderful time with the family.

In between all this and especially after being motivated after the wonderful workshop I did get back into my craft room to create .... create ....and create.

I got my order from Craft On Line during the week which had my order of Factoy 45 papers and embellishments from Kaiser Craft.

I put together this little box which I will fill with goodies for my father-in-law for Fathers Day.

First of all I put White Gesso all over the box and then covered it with
Factory 45 papers.
I then added some cog charms, some of the Factory 45 wooden shapes which had been gessoed and coloured and to top it all off I used stone effect paste on the top of the lid and covered in
Aged Brass Metallique Wax
The natural look was increased with a piece of string around the top of the lid.

But watch this space as over the next couple of days I will be telling you more about the lovely people I met at the workshop and the wonderful things we made at the workshop and from a kit I purchased.

Celebrating Life

For a while I have wanted to use the 'Clog' die I have for a scrapbook page featuring my grandson.
I started with the rustic background of green spots on green.
My next step was to give the page some texture by using a template to add some modelling paste to give the texture of the ground cover in the playground.
I then had great fun putting all my die cuts and charms together to enhance the picture of my grandson playing in the play ground.
Lastly I named the page 'Celebrating Life' because that is how I feel my grandson tries when he tackles anything - with laughter and fun having a good time.

I will be entering this page into the Kaisercraft Blog for their August challenge.

Happy Birthday

Over the years that I have been scrap-booking I haven't done many cards for the men in the family but when I did start making cards suitable for men then I found my creative juices just flowed.

For this card I used all those little bits of scrap paper which every scrap-booker has hidden away.
While at a local scrap-booking show I found some paper which looked like bits of hay all meshed together.  It was a lovely piece that made just finished the card of nicely.  I also added dye cut shapes of cogs which sit nicely behind the heritage picture of a car.

Wedding Card

As most of you most probably know our daughter got married last year  so I used the occasion as an opportunity to experiment with my cards in an attempt to make sure she had some lovely Wedding cards to remember.

I love this one and especially the lovely little saying that I found.  I hope the happy couple will write their own love story for a long long time.

I used Christina Re Design - typewriter paper with its lovely golden hint background which I mounted on gold paper.  I then used Spellbinders Dies  with the Spellbinders -- Love Romantic Die placed just under the saying.  I then added the lovely little roses, ribbon and
the beautiful jeweled pin.

Little scraps of paper

It was the end of the weekend and I had all my little scraps of paper out and all over the desk.

As I was putting the paper away I found a couple of pieces that I really liked and decided that I needed to put them together to make a card.

I had to choose from making a card or going and getting dinner. As you can see I decided to go with the card.

It is amazing what you can do with all the little pieces of scrap paper you have left over - just remember to keep them all and one day - like me you can make a beautiful card just like this.

Mt Gravatt Show - Winning Enteries

I just had to show everyone the two Scrapbooking Pages with which I won the First Prize for Scrapbooking.

I loved the photo of my grandson enjoying himself at the park, the way he was laughing while enjoying the ride on the big tyre.  I had wanted to do this page for quite a while so I took the opportunity of doing it to put into the competition.
The page is showing the way he enjoys himself whenever he goes to the park.

The second page I was trying to show the love between my daughter and her husband on their wedding day.  It also showcases the hundreds and hundreds of flowers I made for the wedding - for her bouquet, the bridesmaids bouquets and the many many flowers used as table decorations, on the back of chairs and scattered all over the receptions.

I just wish to thank all the organisers at the Mt Gravatt Show in all the different sections like Cottage Craft and Cake Decorating.  Without all your hard work and voluntering your services activities like this wouldn't happen.

Mt Gravatt Show - Champion Scrapbooker

My daughter can be such a pain sometimes but this time all her nagging has finally paid off for me.

She was putting some of her beautiful decorated cakes from Tara's Sweet Surprise into the cake competition at the Mt Gravatt annual show.  She harped and harped that I should put something into the Scrapbooking competition.

So I decided to put in a selection of articles that I have made over the past twelve months and also decided to make a scrapbooking canvas showing my her Wedding.

The articles I put in included the canvas of the happy couple, her bouquet, a scrapbooking book showing their journey from engagement to wedding and also a sample of the invitation.

I have to give a big big thank you to my daughter for all her nagging as I won Champion for all the group or articles I submitted.

In the next couple of weeks I will show you how I made the bouquet and will also show pictures of the little book showing the happy couples journey and how to make the flowers for the bouquet along with more about the invitation.

A BIG THANK YOU TO MY DAUGHTER TARA FROM TARA'S SWEET SURPRISE

New Supervisor

Where I work for my day job, we have been going through a big restructure and I was fortunate enough to get a new supervisor.  I have known the wonderful lady for a number of years but was never fortunate enough to have her as my supervisor before.
How this could be seen as sucking up to the boss, but on my second day in the new team happens to be her birthday.
Hence the beautiful card below -
I made the card especially in the colours she loves (mind you they are my favourte colours as well).

I used a mixture of papers for this card, some of them I do not know where they even come from. However for future blogs I will try and endavour to let you know what materials I use.

Christmas in July.

I had some fun this weekend after I found this frame in the back of the cupboard of my craft room I decided I needed to do something with it. I know it is a bit early for Christmas but sometime you just have to go with the flow.

I first made the tags making sure that they fitted in the frame and didn't look to full. Then I enjoyed cutting Christmas dies, picking all the different papers I used along with the embellishments   I tried to keep to the white and golds but just had to add the red nose to the reindeer.
